Update on College Basketball games
February 13th 2011 23:41
A great weekend of games so far. A couple of games will happen later on tonight, with Arizona, Connecticut, and Duke in key conference games. One big question remains after yesterday's games, and that is who will be the new number one team in the country?
Top-ranked Ohio State went down to defeat versus Wisconsin, 73-69. Two Big-12 teams will jockey for the number one spot. Second-ranked Kansas and third-ranked Texas. The Jayhawks from Kansas whipped Iowa State yesterday, 89-66, and Texas held off Baylor, 69-60. The Longhorns beat Kansas earlier this season, 74-63, snapping the Jayhawks 66-game home winning streak. Texas deserves the number-one ranking if you look at this game.
The defeat to Texas, is Kansas's only loss on the year. Texas has three losses, to Pittsburgh, USC, and Connecticut. The USC loss was especially bad as the Trojans are struggling in the PAC-10. Texas is on a ten-game winning streak since the January 8th loss to Connecticut.
Other then the loss to Ohio State, the weekend of games has gone without any true upset. Connecticut will take care of Providence tonight and Duke should knock off Miami. This sets the stage for the battle of Arizona. The game of the week for the PAC-10, has the Sun Devils hosting the Wildcats. Arizona is 15th-ranked in the country, and Arizona State needs a win to get ten victories on this year. Look for the upset to occur. Arizona State badly needs a win, and will pull off the victory.
