Top 25 Shooting Guards in NBA History

1. Michael Jordan- the best player ever in NBA history. Hard to deny this.
Michael Jordan is the top shooting guard in NBA history


2. Oscar Robertson- averaging a triple-double for one whole season? Roberston did it. Great assists man, scorer.

3. Jerry West- another guy who could do it all on the court, so many on this list. West was a great scorer and leader for the Lakers.


4. John Havlicek- one of the smartest players in NBA history. Great scorer, defender, good all-around player.

5. Kobe Bryant- may still go up further, him and Havileck were right about the same on my list. Great leader, scorer, winner on the court.

6. Allen Iverson- one of top scorers in NBA history. Unflappable, would drive to the hole and get hit yet came back for more.

7. George Gervin- the "Iceman" good scorer, nine time all-star

8. Clyde Drexler- one of my favorite players ever in the league, great electrifying player. Good scorer, leader on the court for Portland. Won a couple of titles with Houston.

9. Walt Frazier- could do it all on the court, seven all-stars, great scorer, passer.

10. Pete Maravich- "Pistol" Pete could shoot and hit anything from anywhere on the court.

11. Sam Jones- great Celtic during the 60's.

12. Hal Greer- top guard during the 50's and 60's, could light up the scoreboard.

13. Earl Monroe- averaged 21 points during his career, top defender.


14. Ray Allen- pure shooter, one of the top free throw shooters as well in league history.

15. Bill Sharman- eight all-star teams, won four championships with Boston.

16. Reggie Miller- one of the top shooters of all-time in the league.

17. Sidney Moncrief- great all-around player on the court during the 80's.

18. Paul Westphal- made five all-star teams and three all-nba teams. Also a good coach.

19. David Thompson- athletic player, great dunker and good defender. Good scorer.

20. Vince Carter- isn't the same player he once was, but still a very good guard in the league.

21. Tracy McGrady- great scorer, doesn't know a shot he doesn't like. Decent defender, but known as a great scorer.

22. Manu Ginoboli- the star now on the San Antonio Spurs. Great player, known for his clutch play.

23. Drazen Petrovic- player whose life was cut short by an automobile accident. Drafted by the Portland Trailblazers, came alive after getting traded to New Jersey.

24. Alvin Robertson- another guy known for defense. Could score, and pass the ball with the best of them.

25. Joe Dumars- great all-around player, known for his shut-down defense.

Great list, but Vince Carter isn't anything resembling good anymore. He pretty much wastes possessions and takes shots that he will never make. Carter is also too high on this list, but I really have no complaints. Except for this one, who is Michael Jordan anyway?
