Top 20 Players in Indiana Pacers History

July 31st 2011 22:17
Mel Daniels is Indiana's top player in their franchise
1. Mel Daniels- career averages of 19 points and 16 rebounds with team. Led Indiana to the top of the ABA three out of four years with team. Elite rebounder.

2. Reggie Miller- top scorer in team history. One of best shooters ever in the NBA. Led team to playoffs in 15 of 16 seasons.

3. George McGinnis- teamed with Daniels to make an elite frontcourt. Six-time all-star, great rebounder and scorer for team.

4. Roger Brown- four time all-star, good scorer for team in early 70's. Part of team who won three titles.

5. Detlef Schrempf- won two straight sixth-man awards. Only player in the NBA to finish in the top 25 of points, rebounds and assists in 1991. Over-acheived as a player.

6. Rik Smits- elite center when he wasn't hurt. The "galloping dutchman" could rebound, score and defend with the best of them.

7. Billy Knight- two-time all-star, good scorer for team. Not much else.

8. Dale Davis- rebounder and defender, not much of a scorer. Consistent player.

9. Jermaine O'Neal- came into his own after being traded too Indiana. Was a solid double-double player.

10. Danny Granger- great swingman for team, has talent to jump into top four of this list before too long. Great scorer, three-point shooter, very athletic player.

11. Clark Kellog- only lasted three seasons with team. One of few players to average 20 points and 10 rebounds as a rookie. Hampered with injuries.

12. Mark Jackson- smart player, great pass first, shoot last guard.

13. Ron Artest- above average in most facets. If needed he can play, just getting his head into the game is difficult. Part of the brawl in Detroit with the Pacers.

14. Chuck Person- fiery shooter for team. Always ready to take the shot when called upon.

15. Derrick McKey- good scorer and defender. Versatile player, great team player.

16. Antonio Davis- key player during the mid-90's. Good big-man often called upon to slow down the opposing star big-man. Didn't do many things well, was average at best.

17. Jalen Rose- average player at best. Could fill it up from long range at times. Good competitor.

18. John Willamson- only lasted one and a half seasons with team. Was a great scorer, mid twenties, before getting dealt.

19. Brad Miller- servicable big-man, average at best. Does what he has to do in order to stay in league.

20. Troy Murphy- never fully reached potential as a Pacer. Still floating around league as a over-priced player. Decent scorer and rebounder while on Indiana.
