Top 20 Philadelphia 76ers of all-time

1. Julius Erving: eleven-time all-star, Erving was the best player on the court at any moment of the game. One-time NBA MVP, Erving is the franchise leader in blocks.

2. Wilt Chamberlain: began career in Philadelphia. Scored 100 points in a game while a 76er. Won title with team, three-time all-star. Chamberlain dominated the middle.

3. Allen Iverson: great at driving to the hole and taking a beating. Iverson was a great scorer, one of the best in history. Eight-time all-star, seven-time all-nba selection, one-time league MVP.

4. Moses Malone: one of the best down low. Came to Philadelphia in 1983 and boosted the team to the NBA Finals title. Four-time all-star, 20-10 guy on most nights.


5. Hal Greer: ten-time all-star, seven-time all-nba selection. Franchise leader in points, games, and minutes. Played in the 60's.

6. Dolph Schayes: twelve-time all-star, twelve-time all-nba pick. Played in 706 straight games, one of the best during the 50's.

7. Charles Barkley: one of the best rebounders in league history. Barkley was a great talker but he backed it up. So many good players in Philadelphia history, he is one of the best.

8. Bobby Jones: seven-time all-defensive team member, two-time all-star. Won the sixth-man award. Great shutdown defender during the 80's.

9. Billy Cunningham: four-time all-star, four-time all-nba. Smallish but great leaper, averaged in double-figures for rebounding while at Philadelphia.

10. Larry Costello: six-time all-star, one-time all-star, went with a two-handed shot.

11. Paul Arizin: one of the best small forwards in league history. Arizin was good for a double-double every night out.

12. Chet Walker: seven-time all-star, Walker was a leader for the 76ers in the 60's. Led team in scoring in 1968 when they won 68 games.


13. Maurice Cheeks: one of the greatest point guards of all-time. Cheeks was a classic pass-first guy. 1-3 in NBA Finals appearances on team.

14. Joe Fulks: amongst the best in league history in scoring, Fulks won the first scoring title

15. Elton Brand: Barkley clone. Good rebounder and scorer. Pretty good defender.

16. Andrew Toney: great in big games for the 76ers. Known to score well against the Celtics.

17. Neil Johnston: led team to 1956 title. Played entire career for Philadelphia.

18. Doug Collins: didn't do anything great, but was solid. Good defender, and for leadership.

19. George McGinnis: bruiser on court. Known for rebounding and defending, role-player.

20. Hershey Hawkins- smooth on the court. Great shooter and defender.

Maurice Cheeks should be a little higher, but it doesn't really matter that much. Once again, another great list.

I saw Wilt and Doc. They were both great players but I would take Wilt. Doc couldn't shoot from outside consistently so Wilt was a more reliable scorer. But as Joe says it doesn't really matter that much.
