Titans hire Munchak
February 8th 2011 00:29
Tennessee on Monday, decided to promote offesnive line coach Mike Munchak to take over the head coaching job.
Munchak, starred with the Titans while they were the Oilers. He is an nine-time All-Pro selection with the team after being drafted eighth in 1982 out of Penn State. Munchak blocked for Houston Oiler great, Warren Moon during the 80's. He is one of five Oilers to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. After retiring in 1994, Munchak began coaching right away with the Oilers.
He began as an quality control assistant then moved up to offensive line coach in 1997. Munchak held the position until now. He was the first coach owner Bud Adams interviewed for the job, and beat out other candidates. Tennessee offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger, Atlanta offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey, and NY Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell were also interviewed for the post.
Munchak is quite an offensive line coach, as five running backs prospered since 1997 for Tennessee. Munchak as an head coach, has a tough job ahead to win with the Titans. Making sense of the Vince Young saga, is first on the list of to-do jobs.
