Things have gone from bad to worst in NBA lockout
November 15th 2011 00:24
The players union began disbanding the union after rejecting the latest offer from the owners. They are expected to file an anti-trust suit against the league.
This means the season is almost certainly done before it even started. The league has already filed a pre-emptive lawsuit hoping to prove the lockout legality. Though the players are hoping for something to change.
Both sides had hoped for a 72-game season, though this won't happen now. The league's claim was heard on November 2nd. The judge for the case has yet to make a ruling. This seems like a big mess. Even any hope of a 50 game season like 1998 is almost out the window. Many people are losing money over this stoppage, from the hotel chain to the restaurant. It goes down the chain.
Frustrating that neither side can agree to a deal on how to divide income. The players previously made 57% of the revenue, now the owners want this figure to be closer.
