The NBA Season is On the Ropes
September 30th 2011 02:46
NBA commissioner David Stern will threaten the NBA players of cancelling the season if significant progress hasn't been made in the lockout talks by Sunday.
Hard to say if Stern is using this as a scare tactic or if he is for real. The NBA has stated, this is not true in reference to the report. The players have been warned not to jump into any deal, even if this is the case.
The two sides will meet on Friday, 15 team owners are expected to join the meeting as are many of their star players. Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Kobe Bryant are a few of the big names scheduled to be on hand for Friday's meetings. 1998-99 was the only season, games were lost due to work stoppage in the NBA, just 50 games took place.
Sources have said, the two sides need an agreement in place by the middle of next week to not lose any games on the season.
Things seemed to pick up as both sides met more urgency in the NFL with their lockout. Now the NBA is facing something very similar, and different at the same time, as both sides here are very much still far apart. The season is looking very dire for the NBA.
