NFL Games on Thanksgiving and Sunday
November 24th 2010 02:04
New England at Detroit: The Detroit Lions (2-8) for how bad their record indicates they are, have shown glimpses of being good. Six of their eight losses have been by eight or fewer points. Without quarterback Matthew Stafford, Detroit is not very good. New England (8-2) wins this game with ease.
New Orleans at Dallas: Finally after firing Wade Phillips, Dallas (3-7) is winning. In Thanksgiving's best game of the day, the reigning Super Bowl champions go into Dallas. New Orleans (7-3) has begun to hit their stride and the Cowboys won't slow this down. Having a healthy Reggie Bush back will assist in the Saints victory.
Cincinnati at NY Jets: Two teams going in very opposite directions. Cincinnati (2-8) has lost seven straight games while New York (8-2) have won eight out of nine games. Bengals wide receiver Terrell Owens is speechless about another teams losing ways with him on the team. After getting embarrased here on Thanksgiving, Cincinnati decides to fire coach Marvin Lewis joining the two previous coaches fired this season.
Minnesota at Washington: After a week of turmoil for the Vikings they get to face Donovan McNabb and the Redskins. Thanks in large part to Brad Childress's unwillingness to bench quarterback Brett Favre, Minnesota (3-7) fired him and now go with interim coach Leslie Frazier. Washington (5-5) thanks to the Tennessee Titans penalties was given last weeks victory. Here Favre will hand them another win with a costly turnover costing him his starting job.
Tennessee at Houston: After two straight heartbreaking losses for Houston (4-6) they will get the better of a team. First Mike Thomas's incredible grab in the endzone on a Hail Mary and last week's Mark Sanchez's herioics cost the Texans. Tennesee (5-5) are too one dimensional of a team without someone who can throw the ball. Rookie quarterback Rusty Smith does not strike fear in an opposing teams defense. Houston earns that fifth win.
Jacksonville at NY Giants: Here's a key game with playoff implications for both conferences. New York (6-4) after a tough loss last week versus Philadelphia will wear down the weak Jaguar defense which in large part to a favorable schedule has just gotten by. Jacksonville (6-4) begins to fade down the stretch now.
Carolina at Cleveland: The first of two clunkers in the week with the Panthers and Cleveland. Carolina (1-9) has not shown any live this season in large part to no running game to help out a weak passing game. No offense equals no wins. Cleveland (3-7) has found their quarterback in rookie Colt McCoy since he has been getting the starts. Finally a game Cleveland will win going away. Carolina coach John Fox is in danger of losing his job after another loss.
Pittsburgh at Buffalo: Two straight wins for Buffalo (2-8) has fans praising quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Now Fitzpatrick faces a harsh test in Pittsburgh's defense. Buffalo last week outscored a weak Cincinnati team totaling 49 points. Here against Pittsburgh(7-3) the Bills will total ten points in a loss.
Green Bay at Atlanta: Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcon's face a tough test here in Green Bay. The Falcons young quarterback has led the team to an 8-2 record, many of the wins have been close games. This game will be close. Green Bay(7-3) looked dominant in last week's 31-3 victory over Minnesota. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers stages a duel for the ages with Ryan, but ultimately the Falcons will win.
Kansas City at Seattle: After getting thumped again last week Seattle (5-5) still leads their division. They are poised to get into the playoffs with a (7-9) record thanks to winning this division. Kansas City (6-4) continues to hold off San Diego's surge in adding to the Seahawks woes with a victory.
Miami at Oakland: The Dolphins are struggling with injuries to key players in Brandon Marshall and Chad Henne. Oakland (5-5) have improved this season with production from running back Darren McFadden. Miami(5-5) keeps things close with Tyler Thigpen leading the offense but in the end lose the game.
St. Louis at Denver: Denver(3-7) quarterback Kyle Orton rebounds after Monday's loss to San Diego in a big way against the Rams weak secondary. St. Louis (4-6) thanks to being in the weak NFC West division remain in the playoff hunt with the loss.
Philadelphia at Chicago: Another great game with playoff implications takes place at Chicago's Soldier Field. Philadelphia (7-3) using their team speed have been making quick work of competition lately. Now Chicago (7-3) a team employing a great defense takes their shot. Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will have to use his arm to get the victory here after Chicago shuts down the running game. Vick will make a key run in the final moments of the game keying another victory.
Tampa Bay at Baltimore: Both teams are locked in playoff races but only one of these two will advance to the playoffs. Tampa Bay (7-3) are winning games with an opportunistic offense headed by second-year professional, Josh Freeman, will be on the run. They will soon fade like Jacksonville. Baltimore's (7-3) defense scored two late touchdowns last week on interception returns versus Carolina. They get two interceptions from Freeman, and win easily.
San Diego at Indianapolis: The Chargers have begun their normal late charge after a slow start with three straight wins and are now 5-5. Quarterback Philip Rivers is having an MVP like season and this will continue. Indianapolis(6-4) has struggled this season with teams who can score the football. Quarterback Peyton Manning needs help from the running game which has been non-existent this season. Manning wins a shootout with Rivers, using the homefield to their advantage in this game.
San Francisco at Arizona: The second of the weeks clunkers takes place on Monday night. Two teams mired in a battle as part of the league's worst division. Arizona(3-7) and San Francisco(3-7) are both still in the race for the crown. Arizona quarterback Derek Anderson can not win the game by himself. A running game needs to emerge for the Cardnials. This will not happen against a strong 49er defense. Troy Smith makes enough plays for San Francisco to win.
