Sugar Bowl Preview
January 1st 2013 19:08
The next BCS bowl game on the schedule is the Sugar Bowl scheduled for Wednesday.
Sugar Bowl: Louisville (10-2) vs Florida (11-1).
Louisville head coach Charlie Strong was formerly the defensive coordinator at Florida, making this game extra special. The Cardinal will be looking to keep this game close as they are heavy underdogs in the contest. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has thrown for 3,425 passing yards and 25 touchdowns on the season. Jeremy Wright and Senorise Perry have combined for 1,455 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns making the offense balanced. Louisville has a good defense, as they give up 23 points per game.
Florida counters with the third-rated defense in the nation, giving up just under 13 points per game. The offense is keyed by running back Mike Gillislee who has 1,199 yards on the season. Quarterback Jeff Driskel does just enough for the team, in passing for 1,471 yards and 14 touchdowns.
If the Cardinal can stay turnover free then this game will be very close. Bridgewater along with Wright and Perry has weapons on his side. Florida with the superior talent will win the game, though it won't be a blowout, as the Cardinal can play as well. Florida won't let anything come easily for Louisville, and capitalize on any mistake Bridgewater makes. Florida wins a tight one.
