Southwest Division Teams Needs in NBA Draft

Houston: The Rockets finished with a record of 43-39 and earned last place in the Southwest. Perks of being in the leagues best division. The Rockets own the 14th, 23rd and 38th picks in the draft. Houston has a strong backcourt with Kyle Lowry and Kevin Martin. The frontcourt needs work. Luis Scola is a strong power forward, but Chuck Hayes, Chase Budinger are not starters. Chris Singleton at the 14th pick would be ideal if he falls, if not Markieef Morris is the pick. At 23, the Rockets should continue this trend with another forward, Tobias Harris or Trey Tompkins fit the spot. Then later in the second round, look for the Rockets to draft whoever is the best available.
Memphis: Here is a team to watch out for next year and in the future. The Grizzlies have a great starting five and a good bench. Memphis holds the 49th pick in the draft after outstanding trades. The Grizzlies can use a backup for Zach Randolph. Darrell Arthur is a marginal backup to Randolph, making the need for another forward huge. Matthew Bryan-Amaning would fit the spot nicely.
New Orleans: The Hornets finished with the seventh best record in the West. They only hold one pick in the draft and it isn't until 45. New Orleans needs another guard to go with Chris Paul in the backcourt. Marco Belenilli is a good back-up shooting guard, not a starter. Andrew Guodeolock from Charleston would fit as a good combo-guard. Charles Jenkins from Hofstra is another option.
Dallas: The NBA Champs hold the 26th and 47th picks in the draft. Dallas doesn't need much assuming they hold onto Tyson Chandler in the middle. A backup to Chandler or Dirk Nowitzki would help. Brendan Haywood is average and Brian Cardnial or Ian Mahinimi equal out to another okay player. Nikola Mirotic, JaJuan Johnson are options at 26. Both would fit the bill as backups at the power forward and center spots.
San Antonio: News is rampant of how the Spurs are shopping Tony Parker to any lottery team in a effort to move up from the 29th draft pick. San Antonio also holds the 59th pick. Moving Parker would be smart as the Spurs could insert George Hill into the starting spot. San Antonio if they hold onto the 29th pick or any other pick need a forward. Tim Duncan and Richard Jefferson are both aging quickly, adding a key backup would help. Kyle Singler or Jerald Honeycutt from UCLA would help. Both guys are smart players that would fit into Head Coach Gregg Poppovich's style. If the Spurs do move up, adding a forward is the only way to go.
