Series's shifts to Dallas and Atlanta

May 6th 2011 02:48
Who would of expected this from the Mavericks? Winning two times in a row on the road in the playoffs is nearly unheard of. Winning both of these games at the two-time reigning NBA champs is almost impossible. Well, Dallas did it, now can they keep it up on their homecourt? Atlanta stole the homecourt advantage from Chicago in game one, only to get it turned around on Wednesday after the Bulls pulled the game out. The storylines are set, now's the time for one team to grab an advantage.

Even though the Bulls won game two, Atlanta's shooters continued to can big shots. Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford, even Jeff Teague were drilling shots from all over the court. The Hawks have a couple of good big men who also have been producing against the Bulls in Al Horford and Josh Smith who continues to make life for Carlos Boozer miserable. Smith blocked Boozer four times during game two's second half.

The Hawks once again make things tough for the Bulls on the defensive side. With their home-fans behind them, the Hawks steal another game, and grab an one game advantage on the Bulls and the MVP Derrick Rose.

Ron Artest is suspended for game three after a flagrant 1 foul. Missing the forward hurts the Lakers who already had a slim bench. Matt Barnes has to take over the starting spot for the champions putting more pressure on Kobe Bryant, and Pau Gasol. The big Spainard has struggled this year in the playoffs, first against the Hornets, now the Mavericks. Marc has definitely been the better of the Gasols.

Dirk Nowitski has had a great playoffs, and Jason Kidd continues to defy his age and play great ball. Can Dallas grab a 3-0 lead on the Lakers? I wouldn't want to bet against it, especially since how bad the Lakers played their in the second half of game two. Bryant plays great for the Lakers, keeping them close but with the home-fans on their side now, Dallas grabs a commanding three game lead.
Jason Kidd is getting older but you wouldn't know it by how he is playing

Why do people treat this as such a big upset? It's not guys. The Mavericks are a great team, and they are the third seed in the West. They beat a tough Blazers team in 6 whereas the Lakers were taken to 6 by a mediocre Hornets team. This is no upset because these are two evenly matched teams. This isn't the same Lakers team that made it to the finals last year. This year's version is worse. I still think they can win, I always try to hold true to my predictions, but I'm saying that this is no shock.

Not saying its an upset but a huge surprise that a team could win 2 in a row over a championship contender on their home court. Thanks for the comment as always!
