Records About to Fall

Two phenomenal records or feats are taking place now in college basketball. One in women's college basketball where Connecticut is gunning for their 89th straight victory. The game is taking place tonight with the Huskies taking on 14th-ranked Florida State. With the victory, Connecticut would surpass UCLA's men's teams 88 consecutive victories from 1971-74.
The other record about to take place is Duke coach Krzyzewski's taking over the most wins ever by a college basketball coach. Coach K' tied North Carolina great, Dean Smith with his 879th career win Monday night. Duke romped over Elon, 98-72 pushing the top-ranked team's record to 11-0 on the season. Next up for Coach K' on the list is Bob Knight and his 902 wins. Coach K' may top Knight later on this season in the NCAA tournament if Duke continues this roll.
Nobody knows how far Connecticut will take their record to after another likely win tonight. Second-ranked Baylor played the Huskies tough earlier on this season before bowing out, 65-64. Baylor Center Brittany Greiner has the ability to lead a team to defeating Connecticut. Maybe later on in the NCAA tournament someone will finally knock off Connecticut. Though it is quite a long streak, winning 88 straight games, is something to marvel about in any sport.
