Quick Super Bowl Preview

February 2nd 2011 00:43
Now less then 125 hours away from the Super Bowl beginning, the time has come to preview it. The Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers, two storied franchises going at it.

Both teams come into the game on a roll, if you look at their final games during the regular season and playoffs. The Packers have won five straight games, all rated as elimination games, as one loss would not have earned them a shot at the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh on the other hand, has won four straight games.

When looking at the teams schedules during the regular season, both teams faced off versus AFC East teams. And both teams went 2-2 during their games. Green Bay lost to Miami and New England, and Pittsburgh fell to New England and New England. So delving a little more, a little glimpse of that New England game for both teams. Green Bay lost 31-27, with Matt Flynn as the quarterback. Rodgers was out with an concussion during the game. Pittsburgh in a rare night off for their defense, gave up 39 points to New England and lost 39-26. New England quarterback Tom Brady threw for three touchdowns versus Pittsburgh, and did just enough against the Green Bay defense for the win. Pittsbrugh defensive player of the year Troy Polamalu did play versus the Patriots.

If I was Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy, I would look at the game tape of this game. New England and Brady doing whatever they wanted to do versus the Pittsburgh defense.

Pittsburgh has gotten much better, and more cohesive since this game. The only loss up until the Super Bowl came to the New York Jets and Pittsburgh should of won that game. An stretch of 8-1, in which games where won ugly or big. The Steelers used their defense to the core. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been on a tear, during their five-game winning streak. Though the hit from Julius Peppers on him during the NFC title game would of given him an concussion. He wasn't the same for the rest of the game. Once the Steelers defense begins to get to Rodgers, and puts some hits on him, the game will change. Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger can take the hits, Green Bay will give him.

Look for a great game, with stellar effort on both sides. Polamalu, fresh off the week break, will make a huge play, and better Green Bay linebacker Clay Matthews and his big play in the Steelers victory. Two guys, center Maurice Pouncey and defensive end Aaron Smith, will get the okay to play, and help Pittsburgh to a tight, victory. Watch out for Green Bay again next year. The Steelers win here, however.
