In the second part of a double-header tomorrow night after Miami and Los Angeles
, Dallas hosts the New York Knicks. Dallas won the teams earlier meeting, 113-97 behind 29 points and 11 rebounds from Dirk Nowitski. Dallas is 46-17 on the season, they are at New Orleans tonight. The Knicks are 33-29, they are at Memphis today.
Carmelo Anthony and all the other new Knicks were not yet on the team when the first game occured. Nobody knows yet if bringing in Anthony actually helped the team or not as they still struggle to defend. But they can score and score in bunches. Dallas is the perfect barometer of what New York hopes to be, a team who can outscore any team on any given night.
Anthony averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds during a mini two game series with Dallas at the begining of the season while at Denver. The Nuggets and the Mavs split these two battles, with each team winning on their home-court. Nowitski, averaged 29 points in these games.
Nowitski, should be able to do whatever he wants versus the Knicks defenders. Anthony will have a huge game for the Knicks. Whoever plays better between Tyson Chandler and Amare Stoudemire will prove to be the key barometer in this game. Chandler scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds in Dallas 113-97 victory over the Knicks on February, 2nd. Stoudemire scored 21 points and had just five rebounds as he got outworked on the boards. Even Nowitski pulled down 11 rebounds in the win.
The Knicks will likely be missing point guard Chauncey Billups adding even more difficulty to the task of upending the Mavs. Dallas wins the game, running away with it at the end.
