Preview of Go Daddy.com and Cotton Bowl

Go Daddy.com: After one day off, the bowl game saga returns with more games. I remember when the big games occurred after these small bowls, now the games are all over the place. Here on Thursday, Miami of Ohio (9-4) takes on Middle Tennessee State (6-6) from the Sun Belt Conference. For those who actually watch this game, you could be in for a great game.
Miami (OH) rallied from a 4-4 start to win their final five games this year, including the Mid-American Conference title game. This is a huge jump from the team's 1-11 mark last season. Coach Mike Haywood left for Pittsburgh and now finds himself unemployed before even hitting the field. But that's a whole other story. The Redhawks quarterback Zac Dyssert is expected to miss the game, leaving Austin Boucher as the replacement. Boucher threw for 333 yards in the Redhawks victory over Northern Illinois to win the conference. Armand Robinson is the main target on the field, pulling in 90 catches this season. Thomas Merriweather rushed for 821 yards.
Middle Tennessee State got bowl eligible by knocking off Florida International, 28-27 in the season finale. The Blue Raiders are led by quarterback Dwight Dasher who can run and pass with the best of them. Dasher has 457 yards on the ground, and threw for 1,388 yards after missing the first four games of the season after being suspended. Dasher rushed for over two hundred yards last year in the Blue Raiders victory over Southern Miss in the New Orleans Bowl. Sun Belt defensive player of the year Jamari Lattimore totaled 11 and a half sacks, good for sixth in the country.
Both teams can be explosive, but also turnover prone. Look for the Blue Raiders to win with Dasher again garnering MVP honors of the game.
Cotton Bowl: Two teams who did damage in their respective conferences but just fell short collide in Texas. The Texas A&M Aggies (9-3) and LSU Tigers (10-2). Both teams posted 6-2 marks in conference play, another sign of the great seasons they have endured.
LSU had some lucky victories this season and tough defeats. The only losses came to Auburn, and Arkansas, both teams in BCS bowl games. A great defense, ranked ninth in the country and running back Stevan Ridely are the reasons for the Tigers success this season. Ridley just topped the 1000 yard mark. Jordan Jefferson is the TIgers quarterback and he has been less then stellar, throwing for 1,253 yards and four touchdowns, but he has rushed for 383 yards. Cornerback Patrick Peterson won the Jim Thorpe and Chuck Bednarik awards. Peterson went for 36 tackles and four interceptions, joining Charles Woodson as the only player to win both the Thorpe and Bednarik awards. Peterson, like Woodson plays offense and special teams as a kick returner.
Texas A&M won their final six games of the season after coach Mike Sherman benched starter Jerrod Johnson for Ryan Tannehill. The new quarterback threw for 11 touchdowns and completed 65 percent of his passes in leading the Aggies to six victories. Cyrus Gray topped the 1000 yard mark, balancing out the attack. Ryan Swope and Jeff Fuller both are great receivers who have 132 catches between the two. Vonn Miller, Aggies linebacker won the Butkus award as the nations top linebacker.
This game feels like a BCS game, maybe even more so then the Capitol One Bowl with Michigan State and Alabama. Look for a great defensive battle with stars for both teams coming up with big plays. Texas A&M nearly are at home, playing here and this pays dividends. The Aggies win in a squeaker and reach ten wins.
