Preview of Dallas and San Antonio

March 30th 2011 23:47
TNT has a great doubleheader of NBA action, with San Antonio hosting Boston, and Dallas playing at Los Angeles. Both the Spurs and Celtics are NBA giants this year, though both have struggled here lately. One teams struggles continue while the other can proceed back to winning. Gotta go with San Antonio on a hunch they get Duncan, Ginoboli, and Parker back. Or at least two of these stars. Now to a key Western Conference game with the Lakers and Mavericks.

The season series between the Lakers and Mavericks is tied at one game apiece. The first two games were played at Dallas, now the Lakers get a chance to host Mark Cuban's team. Los Angeles has been on a tear since the All-Star break, with a record of 15-1. This and the Spurs struggles have enabled the Lakers to make a last ditch effort at the best record in the Western Conference and the NBA.

The difference maker for the Lakers is Andrew Bynum. The center has been a rebounding machine during the streak, pulling down over ten boards per game nine times since the break. Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol are still playing like All-stars but Bynum is a bright spot. Lamar Odom, and Ron Artest, both viable veterans continue to be streaky.

Dallas lost their last meeting on March 12th to the Lakers. Dirk Nowitski and Bynum went back and forth during that game. Nowitski scored 25 points, had 10 rebounds, and six assists. Bynum scored 22 points and had 15 boards. Bryant left for part of the game with a sore ankle, but returned in time to keep the Lakers going. Shawn Marion had a great game, and will do the same again tomorrow. The forward is too quick for Artest or Odom, whomever the Lakers want to put on him. Dallas needs a better effort out of Tyson Chandler against Bynum.

Dallas plays tonight against the Clippers in the Staples Center, so they will get a feel of the court. Nowitski and Bryant both will go over 30 points, but who of the supporting cast steps up? Marion of Dallas, and Bynum once again for the Lakers. In the end, Los Angeles continues their great run, inching closer to San Antonio.
