Predictions for NFL games this week
December 9th 2010 02:44
Indianapolis at Tennessee: Both teams come into this game on a slide. The Colts have lost four of six, and the Titans have dropped four straight. Indianapolis (6-6) quarterback Peyton Manning is a big part of the Colts losing while not having Vince Young is the Titans. Manning will get back on the right track with the spotlight on him with the Thursday night game here. The Colts win. Tennessee (5-7) continues the downfall.
Cleveland at Buffalo: The Browns had a big win last week over Miami, while Buffalo (2-10) are coming off a lackluster loss to Minnesota. Cleveland (5-7) are coming along as a team nicely with the strong play of running back Peyton Hillis. Coach Eric Mangini gets another win for the Browns.
Atlanta at Carolina: Tale of two teams with the opposite type of year. Atlanta is tied with New England for the best record in the NFL with an 10-2 mark. Carolina is 1-11 and has the NFL's worst record. Matt Ryan will be able to do whatever he wants versus the Panthers defense. Carolina will need a great performance from running backs Jonathan Stewart and Deangelo Williams to keep the game close.
Green Bay at Detroit: Detrioit (2-10) for how bad their record looks have actually been close most games. This won't be one of those. Green Bay (8-4) needs to keep pace with the Chicago Bears and will not leave Detroit with a loss. Quarterback Aaron Rogers is putting up MVP-like numbers. These will continue.
Oakland at Jacksonville: Jacksonville (7-5) come into this game as the first place leader in the AFC East division. Oakland (6-6) is no slouch as evident by their big victory last week over the streaking San Diego Chargers. This game comes down to who controls the football. The Jaguars continue to surprise and win again.
NY Giants at Minnesota: With or without Brett Favre, Minnesota (5-7) does not stand a chance versus the Giants here. New York (8-4) is locked in a big battle with Philadelphia for division supremacy. The Vikings have a better chance if backup Tavaris Jackson plays at the quarterback position. Eli Manning and the Giants continue to roll.
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh: Another game with two teams having exactly the opposite record. Cincinnati (2-10) have lost nine straight games. With other coaches going down lately you have to wonder when coach Marvin Lewis will lose his job. Pittsburgh (9-3) is coming off the game of the year thus far with the victory against Baltimore last week. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has a broken foot and nose, this should not hamper him against the Bengal defense which ranks amongst the leagues worst.
Tampa Bay at Washington: Wow the Buccaneers have lost the last two games of their season versus two of the best in the league. Baltimore and Atlanta two of the best in the NFL have been taken to the wire versus Tampa Bay(7-5) only to win in the end. Now a team going downhill will face the Buccaneers. Washington(5-7) has too much off the field drama too be ready for this game. The Buccaneers win.
St.Louis at New Orleans: Finally a game where New Orleans(9-3) will be able to flex their offensive muscle. St.Louis(6-6) does not have the offense or defense to keep pace with the Saints. The Saints win in a laugher.
Seattle at San Francisco: The 49ers will start Alex Smith again after giving the job to Troy Smith the last few weeks. Seattle(6-6) on paper should be able to win here. Though the Seahawks have struggled the next game after winning one. Look for Alex Smith to come out and look good on the field. Then for the Seahawks to come back and win.
Denver at Arizona: This game will be interesting. Neither team has a chance anymore at the playoffrs and are waiting for next year. Denver (3-9) is coming off a week where they lost their coach, Josh McDaniels and are now going with Eric Sturdevant as the interim guy. Arizona (3-9) have too much problems going on to give them a chance here. Starting a new quarterback this late in the year in rookie Eric Skelton is not a good sign. Denver wins.
New England at Chicago: The game of the week pits the Patriots who trounced the Jets, 45-3, last Monday against the definsive minded Bears. Chicago (9-3) will need to keep the New England(10-2) offense off the field with a strong running game from Matt Forte. Chicago's main strength is their defense while the Patriots counter with the top offense in the NFL. Don't see a way that the Patriots lose here. Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler will find a way to screw up the game and hand New England it.
Miami at NY Jets: The Jets are coming off an disasterous performance on the Monday night game versus New England. Miami(6-6) didn't fare much better with a low scoring demise against Cleveland last week. Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne is not the long time answer at the position and it has shown. New York (9-3) will get back on track with the victory. Will be hard earned as most of their wins this year have been.
Kansas City at San Diego: Here's a game for the Chargers to make up ground in the AFC West division. That is if they want too. Last week versus Oakland, the Chargers did not come ready to play and it showed. Kansas City(8-4) gained another game on the Chargers with four to play, now hold a two game advantage for the division. San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers has put up big numbers this season. He needs to have a great game for the Chargers to win. Kansas City suffers a letdown. The Chargers win and keep pace.
Philadelphia at Dallas: Philadelphia (8-4) knocked off Houston last week, while the Cowboys continued to impress with interim head coach Jason Garrett on the sidelines. Dallas(4-8) can be a big spoiler with a win here. Don't see it happening. The Eagles have too much strength on both sides of the field to lose here. The Cowboys will put up a fight but Michael Vick will be the deciding factor for the Eagles. The Eagles win.
Baltimore at Houston: Houston (5-7) played a great game against the Eagles. Only problem they don't have a good defense as this cost them. Baltimore (8-4) has one of the leagues best defenses in the league. Quarterback Matt Schaub of the Texans will have to play his best of the year for the Texans to even have a chance. Baltimore gets back on the winning track in the victory.

That post is from august 27th, and I was wrong about everything on that list save for a couple of things.

Hopefully you are wrong, but I think that you will be right about the game tonight. Hopefully (because I will be sitting in the 20 degree weather) it will be a good game, even if they don't win!!

KC needs to lose so if Oakland wins, they pick up a game...but it means SD will as well.
I guess, though, KC has to lose - always want the division leader to lose.
I hope the Bucs don't let down against Washington. Yeah, the 'Skins have a lot of drama, but Bucs might be deflated come SO close against two top tier teams - even having the lead against Atlanta.
Washington is one of those teams that just needs to lose. I wish they had Detroit's record and Detriot had Washington's. 5-7 is more like the kind of football the Lions have played, imo.
