Phily, Indiana, and Portland shoot for home-cooking
April 21st 2011 02:48
After two tough losses on the road for each, Portland, Indiana, and Philadelphia, they each get a chance for a win on Thursday at home. Dallas pulled away from Portland in getting the game two victory in the end, 101-89. Indiana, once again kept things close with Chicago, only to fall at the end. Philadelphia was beaten handily from the host Miami. Each of these three teams face a must-win situation here on Thursday.
The Pacers have been a revelation here in the playoffs, based on how they have kept things so close with Chicago. Only losing by six and five points in the first two games is a testament to how coach Frank Vogel is calling the game here. Indiana matches up well with Chicago in every position but point guard where Derrick Rose is at. Darren Collison has done a decent job of playing the position, but the Pacers don't have anyone to stop the probable MVP of the league. Collison is doubtful with a sprained ankle, making it likely backup A.J. Price will get the starting nod.
Paul George who is five inches taller then Rose has gotten the job of slowing the guard. He hasn't been able to as Rose is averaging 37 points for the first two games. If Danny Granger can go over the 30-point mark, then the Pacers have a shot at winning. He is the x-factor. Rose will get his near 40-point performance, but Indiana needs someone to match him.
Nobody on the 76ers roster came to play on Monday and it showed as the team barely cracked the 70-point mark. Now they get a chance to redeem themselves in front of the home-town fans. Jrue Holliday and Elton Brand with Thaddeus Young in the first game have been the bright spots for the 76ers. The big-three for the Heat have been able to do whatever they want, whenever they want as nobody on the 76ers roster can stop them.
Lebron James, and Chris Bosh are both averaging nearly 25 points per game, while Dwayne Wade who has been bothered my migraine symptoms is scoring 16. Wade is back to normal now, and the Heat are set for another win here. The only way the 76ers keep the game close is if Andre Iguodala can have a good game. He has struggled thus far against the Heat, averaging 5 points per game.
The Blazers were really bad in the second half against the Mavericks as they lost bad on Tuesday. LaMarcus Aldridge and Andre Miller have been the star players for Portland. Aldridge is averaging 26 points per game, and Miller is scoring 18 points. Portland has not been able to stop Dirk Nowitski for the entire game. They have had some good moments against the 7-footer, but have not been able to sustain it. Nowitski is scoring around 31 points per game for the Mavericks here.
Jason Kidd, and Peja Stojakovic have increased their scoring averages, especially from behind the 3-point line in helping win the first two. The Blazers need something from Brandon Roy in game three. He was irked about not playing much in game two, and voiced his displeasure with Coach McMillian. Now's the time for the former All-Star to step up if he wants the playing time. He had problems in game one when he got extended minutes. Let's see what he is made of. Portland finally gets someone to shoot the ball well from behind the three-point line as they get win number one here.
