Packers lose, Colts win ending streaks
December 18th 2011 22:45
Two streaks ended on Sunday, both in dramatic fashion. Kansas City, just six days fired head coach Todd Haley, now hand Green Bay their first loss of year, 19-14. The Indianapolis Colts defeated Tennessee, 27-13 earning their first win of the season.
Donald Brown, running back for the Colts ran wild on a hapless Titans defense en route to 161 yards on 16 carries. Quarterback Dan Orlovsky threw for 82 yards and one touchdown. The Colts took advantage of a terrible day from Tennessee's offense. Starting quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was intercepted twice before getting pulled for backup Jake Locker. The Titans also lost a fumble in the loss which essentially ends their playoff hopes.
Chiefs interim head coach Romeo Crennel had a perfect game plan in place to shut down Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Packers star quarterback was on the run for the whole game, just passing for 235 yards. He got outplayed by Chiefs quarterback Kyle Orton. The Broncos cast-off passed for 299 yards in the game. Kansas City placekicker Ryan Succop kicked four field goals in the win.
In other action, division rivals New York Giants and Washington Redskins squared off. The Redskins enjoyed a surprisingly easy win over the Giants, 23-10. The Giants fresh off beating Dallas last week, never were in the game, falling behind 23-3 before a late touchdown. Redskins quarterback Rex Grossman threw one touchdown pass in the victory. Eli Manning tossed three interceptions, aiding the Redskins cause.
