Oregon escaped last nights game with a victory over California, 15-13. This keeps Oregon in the top spot but with Auburn still nipping at their heels. The Tigers pulled away from Georgia late to win 49-31.
The Ducks will enjoy a week off now to get ready for a tough Arizona team who has the people to knock off the top ranked club. All California was missing was someone who could throw the ball to balance out their offensive attack. Brock Mansion, starting at quarterback now for Cal, was 10-28 for only 69 yards against Oregon. Arizona quarterback Nic Foles will be more effecient then this. Foles in Saturdays loss versus USC threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns.
Oregon's counterpart in Corvallis, Oregon State continued an ugly season with a loss to Washington State, 31-14. Two weeks in a row the team has failed to come out and match their opponents intensity. UCLA beat Oregon State 17-14 in a terrible performance on both sides of the ball for the Beavers. After senior wide receiver, James Rogers was lost for the season, Oregon State's offense has been pathetic. Maybe losing to Washington State, a team who hasn't won a PAC-10 game in 16 tries will be a wake up call. Too bad Oregon State has USC, Stanford and Oregon left on the schedule.
