Oregon, nearly one month away from losing to Auburn, 22-19 rebounded with their best recruiting class ever. The Ducks have the 11th-ranked class according to Rivals.com. Alabama is number-one with 21 total commits. The Ducks and the PAC-10, brought in key players for years to come.
USC, found ways to make their recruiting class number two. Despite being hit by sanctions, coach Lane Kiffin and the Trojans are set with 30 commits. USC brought in one 5-star recruits, plus a myraid of 4-star guys. One 5-star recruit, wide receiver George Farmer is expected to contribute immediately for the Trojans.
The Ducks got one 5-star recruit, Colt Lyerla from Hillsboro, Oregon. 10 4-star recruits, plus 12 3-stars, bulk up the best class ever for the Ducks. Oregon's 23 recruits are sad news for Beaver's fans, like myself. Oregon will be near the top of the PAC-10 for years to come.
Oregon State, and coach Mike Riley, brought in a solid class like usual. Guys who are not usually on other teams radar continue to made into NFL threats. Only one 4-star recruit on the list, though a big group of 3-stars commited, 13 in total. The 4-star, Brandin Cooks comes from Stockton, California, and is ranked the 26th wide receiver in the nation. The class is ranked eigth in the PAC-10, though us Beaver fans are used to this.
Cal and coach David Tedford brought in a great class, ranked 17th. Stanford and Washington, both coming off big bowl wins have classes to admire. Stanford at number 22, and Washington sits at 23. Stanford even with Jim Harbaugh going to the NFL, got 19 guys to sign, 11 who are 4-stars. Washington due in large part to an shocking victory over Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl, got 24 commits, five of which are 4-stars.
Oregon and USC are fighting over an prospect, De'Anthony Thomas, who initially signed with USC, but may change. He is expected to make the signing public. Thomas is an athlete and would bring both classes up quite a few notches if he signs with them. If Thomas signs as an Trojan, then USC could jump to number one.
