Ohio State set to reclaim top spot

February 27th 2011 16:40
Duke on Saturday night lost for the second time while being top ranked. First time, unranked Florida State upended the Blue Devils. Unranked Virginia Tech did the deed last night, 74-70. Now all Ohio State has to do is win Sunday and once again be number one. Of course, the voters could put Kansas back at number one. Though they lost to unranked Kansas State to give up the perch.

Indiana is the opponent today, and having head coach Tom Crean on your side gives you a chance. A slim chance that is as the Buckeyes are
better then Indiana at every position. The Buckeyes won the earlier meeting between the two, 85-67. The Buckeyes starters proved to be too much for Indiana's in the win. Indiana has improved this season, and going into this game with Ohio State, they are 12-16. The marquee win on the year is over Minnesota, 60-57. A 3-12 record in conferece play won't scare opponents away. Injuries to leaders on the team have hurt the Hoosiers progress.

Ohio State wins today, and once again takes over the number one ranking. That is unless Kansas once again gets voted in. Ohio State lost to a fellow ranked squad while on top in Wisconsin.

Other action today:
Pittsburgh set for another battle with Louisville. The Cardinals have one advantage, being the home team. Pittsburgh and Louisville battle here in a game, that is very evenly matched.

Purdue travels to East Lansing for a meeting with Michigan State. This is a must win for the Spartans. They are in trouble of not making the NCAA tournament unless they can make some noise now and their conference tournament. Purdue at 23-5 needs to win just to keep pace with Ohio State. This is a trap game for the Boilermakers, similar to what Duke had last night with Virginia Tech.

OSU completely deserves it. Both of their losses came against good teams, and they were all road games in tough environments. OSU have great shooters, and a great interior game that stars a player I don't even need to mention. That's how good they are.
