The Oakland Raiders will hire Denver's defensive coordinator as their new head coach. The Raiders fired Hue Jackson right after the regular season ended. The Raiders were 8-8 last year.
Allen improved a league worst defense last season to 24 this season. His unit was a big reason for the Broncos revival as AFC West champion. This will be Allen's first head coaching job. He previously coached for New Orleans secondary and Atlanta Falcons.
Oakland and Allen agreed to a deal in principle though are still working out a contract. Denver will be searching for their eighth defensive coordinator in eight seasons.
The Raiders will have lots of questions for next season. Including, who will be the starting quarterback? Jason Campbell went down to injury, forcing the team to trade for Cincinnati Bengals cast-off Carson Palmer. Now Palmer figures to be back, as well as Campbell. Also, how will Allen improve a porous defense which ranked 29th in the league?
