NFL Wildcard Picks

Cincinnati at Houston: Cincinnati(9-7) thanks to other teams flopping fell into the playoffs after losing last week to Baltimore. Houston(10-6) has lost three straight games after winning the AFC East division. Both teams have rookie quarterbacks leading the way in TJ Yates at Houston and Andy Dalton over at Cincinnati. In fact the last time Houston won a game was against this same Cincinnati team, 20-19 back on Dec. 12th. Dalton is suffering from the flu but will start. Yates is coming back from a bruised shoulder. I like the home team Houston here, though the game will go down to the wire.
Detroit at New Orleans: Two of the league's top offenses figure to light up the scoreboard here. New Orleans (13-3) have won eight straight games, while the Detroit Lions are back in the playoffs after a break. Detroit(10-6) will struggle to keep up with the Saints strong offense led by record-setting quarterback Drew Brees. Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has had a great season as well, so expect Detroit to score some. Not enough though, as the Saints win.
Atlanta at NY Giants: The best game of the weekend? Atlanta (10-6) wins games with a strong running game and great quarterback, kind of like how the NY Giants (9-7) win them as well. The Giants defense is finally gaining their star members back, making this game even more interesting. This game comes down to who's offensive line will protect their quarterback better? Betting on the Falcons to eke out a win.
Pittsburgh at Denver: Here's a game that on the surface may seem one-sided, but taking a closer look will give you the reality. Pittsburgh(12-4) travel to take on AFC West division champion Denver(8-8). The Broncos won six straight before losing their last three, yet still made the playoffs thanks to the Oakland Raiders also failing down the stretch. Pittsburgh will be missing top running back Rashard Mendenhall for the whole playoffs putting even more pressure on iron-man Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers quarterback always seems to fighting through some injury. Denver with Tim Tebow as quarterback have proven to be very inconsistent all season on the offensive side. Look for the playoff-proven Steelers who lost to Green Bay in last season's Super Bowl, to get a close win here. Neither team will score much, but the Steelers will do just enough to win.
