Vikings Coach Fired: Brad Childress became the second coach to lose his job in the NFL, Monday after the Vikings fired him. The Vikings are currently 3-7 and struggling to stay out of the basement in the NFC North division. Last year Minnesota was one play away from reaching the Super Bowl, instead a Brett Favre interception ruined that in a close loss to New Orleans in the NFC title game. Nobody saw this coming after last years run.
Seasons Over for Vince Young: During Sunday's loss against the Washington Redskins, Vince Young was pulled with an injury to his throwing hand. On Monday, surgery was recommended for Young by the Titans team doctor, thus ending his 2010 campaign. Rusty Smith, a rookie from Florida Atlantic was brought in relief of Young, and will remain the starter. Tennessee on Monday signed Chris Simms to backup Smith. Young struggled before being pulled with the injury and upon leaving the field made gestures to the fans, and threw his pads in the stands, then after the game had a heated discussion with coach Jeff Fisher.
New York Jets Continue to Roll: Mark Sanchez led the New York Jets (8-2) to a victory Sunday after trailing Houston (4-6) 27-23 with less then a minute left and no timeouts. Sanchez not fazed by the deficit brought the Jets again back from the dead to a win. New York in previous weeks had to rally from deficits late to win games. Sunday, the Jets had the lead for most of the game, up until Matt Schaub gave Houston a 24-23 lead with 2:18 left on the game clock.
Ellis Hobbs Out for Year with Disc-Injury: Philadelphia Eagles (7-3) cornerback Ellis Hobbs is the latest player to get hurt with a helmet to helmet hit. Hobbs was hurt in a early second half kickoff return for the Eagles during their 27-17 victory over the New York Giants (6-4), Sunday night. Hobbs underwent an MRI on Monday, afterwards Eagles officials announced he will be lost for the year.
