Denver Broncos lose another, sack coach: The Broncos lost their seventh in eight games on Sunday to Kansas City, 10-6. Monday after practice, Denver owner Pat Bowlen decided to go another way with firing Coach Josh McDaniels. McDaniels was 11-17 as coach for Denver. He won the first six games last year with the team but failed to make the playoffs. This season, Denver is 3-9. Two weeks ago Bowlen stated McDaniels will be the coach next season. Something changed his mind since then. Maybe the team spying scandal in London where team officials were videotaping a San Francisco 49ers practice.
Atlanta stakes claim as NFC leader: It looked as if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had the game won Sunday, being up 24-21 with about ten minutes on the clock. Then Matt Ryan, nicknamed "Matty Ice", took over. He led the Falcons on a 67-yard drive which evaportated almost six minutes of the clock. Atlanta won 28-24 and are the first ten win team in the NFL with another to come tonight between the NY Jets and New England.
Pittsburgh knocks off Baltimore: The Steelers won a battle for the ages in the Sunday night game, 13-10 over the Ravens. Wearing an protective boot on his broken foot, Ben Roethlisberger was effective enough in leading the Steelers. Roethlisberger broke his nose in the win which had its share of fights, and injuries. The most notable was tight end Heith Miller who knocked out and suffered an concussion with an helmet to helmet hit. Ravens safety Jameel McClain will be hit with a fine. Pittsburgh has a one game lead in the AFC South on Baltimore after the game.
Chargers streak of 18 straight in December ends: San Diego came out flat Sunday and lost 28-13 to Oakland, ending an four game winning streak this season. The defending four time champions for the AFC West division had an streak of 18 straight wins coming into the game in the month of December for the last four seasons. San Diego fell behind early in Sunday and failed to come back all the way in losing.
