NFL Picks for Sept. 11 and 12th
September 10th 2011 02:27
Atlanta at Chicago: Big early game for both teams. Is this the year Matt Ryan and the Falcons shed their "soft" label? Chicago's quarterback Jay Cutler was questioned about his injury during last season's playoff game with Green Bay. He is back for the Bears in full. Chicago wins a great game.
Cincinnati at Cleveland: The Bengals with Andy Dalton leading the way are in full rebuild mode, while the Browns are a rapidly ascending team. Cleveland wins here with Colt McCoy throwing for two touchdowns.
Buffalo at Kansas City: Kansas City has one of the toughest schedules in the league for the upcoming season. Buffalo improved over the off-season on the defensive side of things. They make this game interesting for a while, before Kansas City takes it.
Philadelphia at St. Louis: The Rams are going to make life miserable for Michael Vick here. Coach Steve Spagnulo has a great defensive mind and he will be sending out a plethora of different packages to slow Vick. Sam Bradford will be average though in the loss to Philadelphia here. Too much firepower for the Eagles.
Detroit at Tampa Bay: One of the better games of the week. The Lions have endured a string of bad luck regarding their quarterback Matthew Stafford. If he can stay healthy this year, then the Lions have an outside shot at a playoff berth. Tampa Bay nearly made the playoffs last year. The Buccaneers will pull it out in the end here.
Tennessee at Jacksonville: I don't see the Jaguars reasoning for cutting David Garrard. They will be hard pressed to win four games this year without him. The Titans grab the win here.
Pittsburgh at Baltimore: The game of the week. Two very similar teams, who hate one another. I just think the Steelers will win here. Baltimore won't back down easily, but the Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger grab the win.
Indianapolis at Houston: Before Peyton Manning was declared out for this game, many people had it 50-50. Now everyone is counting the Colts out. Not so fast, as Kerry Collins is a serviceable quarterback. Indianapolis has a great complimentary cast. Matt Schaub and the Texans offense needs to get out fast here or risk a loss. Houston takes it, but the game will be closer then many expect.
NY Giants at Washington: Rex Grossman is the starter for the Redskins. Eli Manning lines up for the Giants. The Giants have the better talent around them, and they grab the win.
Seattle at San Fransisco: The 49ers new head coach Jim Harbaugh makes his NFL coaching debut. A great opponent awaits him in Seattle. The 49ers do have some problems throughout, but win the game.
Minnesota at San Diego: Philip Rivers is mentioned by many as a possible Super Bowl MVP possibility. We have heard this before. The Chargers always find a way to shoot themselves in the foot. Minnesota quarterback Donovan McNabb and running back Adrian Peterson put up a fight, but the Chargers win the game in the end.
Carolina at Arizona: The Panthers will start Cam Newton at the quarterback position. He is not used to losing, though should get used to it as the season goes on. Arizona has some talent throughout the roster, lead by Larry Fitzgerald at the wide receiver spot. The Cardinals win the game.
Dallas at NY Jets: Mark Sanchez and the Jets have too much smarts to lose this game. A great defensive game, low scoring. The Jets win in the end as they are more accustomed to grinding out this type of victory.
New England at Miami: The first Monday night game of the doubleheader. Tom Brady and the Patriots have too much talent across the roster for them to lose versus the Dolphins. Chad Henne and Reggie Bush keep the Dolphins close for a little while, but New England gets the win.
Oakland at Denver: This game has lost must of its luster from years back. Both teams are trying to get back to where they used to be before key players left. Look for a close game down to the wire. The Raiders made a key mistake by firing Tom Cable last year. He only led the team to eight wins. Now the Raiders look to improve without making much moves. Denver brought back John Elway to lead the front office. Game ends with a Raiders win.
Cincinnati at Cleveland: The Bengals with Andy Dalton leading the way are in full rebuild mode, while the Browns are a rapidly ascending team. Cleveland wins here with Colt McCoy throwing for two touchdowns.
