NFL Divisional Round Picks

January 14th 2011 00:23
Baltimore at Pittsburgh: Yet another time for these two hated rivals to face off. Baltimore (13-4) killed Kansas City, 30-7 last week to earn another game with Pittsburgh (12-4). The Steelers enjoyed a week off to rest players, most notably quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and safety Troy Palamalu who figure to have huge roles in the game. Neither team will be able to rush, which makes the quarterback play even more prevalent. Roethlisberger and Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco will need to be at the tops of their game. Flacco completed 25 of 34 passes last week for two touchdowns versus the Chiefs. In another custom-made low-scoring game, look for the Steelers to win, and avenge Baltimore's victory 17-14 in week three of the season at Pittsburgh. The Steelers won 13-10 on December 5th, over the Ravens, extending Roethlisberger's winning streak over Baltimore to six, this makes seven.

Green Bay at Atlanta: Both of the best games are on Saturday this week. Look for an great contest here. Atlanta (13-3) defeated Green Bay (11-6) , 20-17 earlier this season. Green Bay continued a late-season surge by defeating Philadelphia last week, 21-16. Can the Packers continue this run, on the road versus Matt Ryan who is 20-2 all-time at Atlanta? Two of the Falcon's losses this year came to Philadelphia and New Orleans, who were both eliminated last week. Green Bay has not won consecutive road games all season. Atlanta last hosted a playoff game in 2004, while Michael Vick starred at quarterback. This game goes down to the end, with Green Bay winning and continuing their surge. Atlanta will be back again with Ryan, but the Packers are looking too good now to lose.

Seattle at Chicago: Another rematch, Seattle defeated Chicago, 23-20 in week six at Chicago. This time the Seahawks are coming into the game on an incredible high after defeating New Orleans last week. A let-down is in order for the Seahawks who will not be able to throw the ball like they did versus the Saints. Seattle (8-9) has a good running back in Marshawn Lynch, but he will struggle to get anything going versus the Bears defense. Chicago (11-5) doesn't have a great offense, just one who gets the job done for their defense who excel. Returner Devin Hester is primed for a big game returning the kick, as he will get at least one in the game. Chicago wins in a game closer then expected.

New York Jets at New England: These two teams split their season series, with each home-team winning on their field. New England (14-2) breezed through the regular season nearly unscathed. Tom Brady is the favorite to win the MVP award, and coach Bill Belchick to win coach of the year award. New York Jets (12-5) won last week on a last second field goal by Nick Folk to knock out Indianapolis. Now coach Rex Ryan faces another nemesis, Brady. This game will not go down to the last second, as Jets quarterback Matt Sanchez will be picked off at least once, as the Patriots storm onto the conference finals round with the victory. Brady will continue his magical year with an round-robin of receivers and two unheralded running backs at his side. As if the Patriots need added firepower to win, the Jets are digging their own graves this week. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie's rant about Brady, and Ryan going off about Belchick.

Definitely agree. All home teams win except Atlanta.
