NFL Awards Week 16
December 28th 2011 04:27
Offensive Player of the Week: CJ Spiller Buffalo. The Bills running back rushed for 111 yards on 16 carries with one touchdown. The Bills upended Denver, 40-14 in a game if the Broncos won, they would of inched closer to a playoff spot or the AFC West crown. Instead, the AFC is still up in the air.
Defensive Player of the Week: Jason Pierre-Paul NY Giants. Paul had two sacks, five tackles and three hits on Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez in the Giants big win.
Best Win: Detroit beating San Diego, 38-10. The Lions ended the Chargers playoff hopes and clinched a playoff spot in the NFC. Detroit plays Green Bay next week in a game that doesn't matter as both squads already are in the playoffs, though if the Lions win, they won't have to face New Orleans or San Francisco in the playoffs.
Worst Loss: NY Jets losing 29-14 to the NY Giants. Both teams needed the win here, neither played very well, but in the end, the Giants got the win. Now, they both need a win again in week 17.
Look ahead to next week: The Jets travel to Miami in a key AFC East game. The Dolphins have been a thorn in teams sides here lately, and the Jets need a win. Baltimore at Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh travels to Cleveland, if the Ravens lose then the Bengals they will clinch a playoff spot. If the Steelers in turn win, they get the division and the number two seed behind New England. Then in the Sunday night game, the Giants host Dallas in the NFC East division title game. Whoever wins, will likely host Detroit in the wild card round. The loser is done for the season.
