NFL Aftermath

November 30th 2010 01:16
Watch out for the Chargers: Coach Norv Turner's team is doing what they do every year. Start the season out slow and then pick up steam during November en route to an divisional title. The owners of the league's best offense and defense have won four in a row since an 2-5 start this season and are only one game out of first place. Kansas City kept the pace by easily dispatching of the Seattle Seahawks, 42-24 yesterday.

First place on the line in next weeks Sunday and Monday's games: The AFC South and East division's first place is up for grabs. Baltimore and Pittsburgh, both 8-3 will duel it out for bragging rights on Sunday night. Baltimore won the earlier game between the two, 17-14, in Pittsburgh during week four. Monday night houses the matchup of two 9-2 teams. The New England Patriots and the New York Jets. The Jets won the earlier matchup, 28-14 in week two.

Johnson and Finnegan fined for 25k: Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson and Tennessee Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan were fined $25 thousand dollars each for roles in a fight. The NFL set the precedent last week with a fine of $25 thousand of Oakland Raiders defensive end Richard Seymour after he punched Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in the face. Johnson and Finnegan got into a fight in the fourth quarter of Houston's 20-0 victory over Tennessee.

Who is the NFL's worst team?: The Carolina Panthers staked their claim to the rights of being the worst team yesterday, but only by a fluke. Normally reliable placekicker John Kasay missed an 42 yard kick that would of won the game for Carolina. Instead Cleveland earned their fourth win. Carolina with an 1-10 record are headed for an coaching change and thoughts of who to get with the first pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Wow! I love how you tricked out the website! The Panthers are my favorite team, and I agree with you that they are the worst team. Quarterback issues, no receivers beside Smitty, O-Line injuries, and RB injuries do that to you. I take solace in the prospect of a number one pick. Kasay is one of my favorite players, so I don't blame him. Everyone misses 42 yarders. In Jeff Reed's case, even the most accurate kickers miss 20 yarders. Of course, Kasay isn't accurate but he has a strong leg. Cortland Finnegan had what was coming to him. He always oppresses and instigates fights with receivers. I am glad that Dre took him down. Good job by Goodell not to suspend anyone. Finnegan's punishment was humiliation, and Johnson was right to fight back and hold his ground on behalf of all the receivers that Finnegan has bullied.
