NCAA Tipoff Marathon Update

ESPN in honor of mens college basketball kicking-off gave us all 24 hours of live games. The schedule began last night at nine pacific time with Miami and Memphis. The Tigers defeated the Hurricanes in the opener, 72-68. St. Johns went to St. Marys in Coach Steve Lavin's debut with the team. The Gaels held on to defeat St. Johns, 76-71 in late Monday action.
Central Michigan played at Hawaii, Stony Brook at Monmouth and Robert Morris at Kent State, and Northeastern went to Southern Illinois in other morning action. The Rainbow Warriors from Hawaii won a tight game over Central Michigan, 65-62. Stony Brook defeated Monmouth on the road by two points, 51-49. Northeastern won the only overtime game thus far in the marathon over the Salukis of Southern Illinois, 63-62.
The afternoon saw, Oral Roberts at Tulsa, La Salle at Baylor, Virginia Tech at Kansas State, and Ohio State at Florida. The final two games have Butler going to Louisville and South Carolina visiting East Lansing and Michigan State. Tulsa defeated Oral Roberts 83-68 with Steven Idlet leading the way scoring 20 points. The 17th-ranked Baylor Bears knocked off visiting La Salle, 74-64. Third-ranked Kansas State beat Virginia Tech, 73-57 and in the marquee game pitting fifth-ranked Ohio State and 10th-ranked Florida, the Buckeyes prevailed 93-75. Currently, Butler is losing at Louisville 52-32 in the second half.
