NBA Trade Talk and Free Agency Signing
December 11th 2011 19:47
Paul trade dead again: The Chris Paul trade to the Los Angeles Lakers is dead once again after the Lakers pulled out at the last minute, just a few hours after the three teams involved re-submitted the deal. Houston and New Orleans were also involved of course.
Odom traded to Mavs: The Lakers instead sent Lamar Odom to Dallas for a trade exception. Odom was an integral part of the three-team trade which would of brought Paul to the Lakers. Dallas will pick up Odom's $8.9 million dollar deal thanks to their three-team trade involving the New York Knicks and dealing Tyson Chandler. The Lakers will get Dallas's 2012 first round draft pick as part of the deal.
Blazers Sign Thomas: The Portland Trailblazers will sign veteran forward/center Kurt Thomas to a two-year contract. The Blazers will be Thomas's ninth team in his long career in the league. He averages nine points and seven rebounds for his career.
Knicks Moves: Mike Bibby signed a one-year deal to join the New York Knicks, one day after the team released Chauncy Billups as part of an amnesty clause. The team also re-signed Jared Jefferies, and their two draft picks, Iman Shumpert and Josh Harrelson. Bibby played last season at Miami.
Howard demands trade: Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard has requested a trade to the New Jersey Nets. He is also okay with joining the Lakers or Dallas according to reports. Howard denied reports that he met with Nets officials on Friday about a possible trade. He signed a contract extension back in 2007, and can opt out in 2012.
