NBA soon may cancel games
October 4th 2011 23:40
If no deal has been made by next Monday, NBA commissioner David Stern will cancel the first two weeks of the schedule.
No real progress has been made the past couple of days over the flurry of meetings. Stern has backed down from his claims of cancelling the entire season, but now just the first two weeks.
The players make 57% of the revenue right now, the league wants this figure to come down. They have offered 47% to the players side, something the union for them felt was a slap in the face. Stern has mentioned the possibility of a 50-50 split, but nothing real concrete has come of it yet.
No talks are scheduled between the two sides. Many of the leagues stars including Kobe Bryant are still working on new deals to jump to the overseas leagues. Bryant and Virtus Bolgona are working on finalizing a deal which would bring the Lakers guard to the Italian team.
