NBA Playoffs: Saturday's Action

April 15th 2011 03:01
Four games are to be played in the playoffs on Saturday, and the remainder of the games on Sunday. Here's a look at Saturday's action.

Indiana vs Chicago: The Bulls have the easiest road of all the teams to the second round. Chicago won three of the four times these teams met, with Indiana getting the last win in overtime.

Derrick Rose, the odds-on MVP will be able to have his way against Darren Collison and whoever else Indiana throws at him. Carlos Boozer, and Joakim Noah both will have big series's against the Pacers. Luol Deng's defense will be called into the equation again going against the star of the Pacers.

Looking at Indiana, there main player is Danny Granger. The small forward averages 21 points per game, though he has struggled this year against the Bulls. Chicago has a plethora of athletic defenders who will guard the forward from New Mexico. Roy Hibbert has the length to give Chicago issues in the middle and he has dropped some weight to make himself quicker. Indiana has issues with defense and this will be the downfall on Saturday as Chicago runs away with the game.

Philadelphia at Miami: Miami won all the games during the regular season over the Sixers. Each game was around the double figure mark, making this a bad matchup for the Sixers. They do have it easier then Indiana does, but the Sixers have a difficult road ahead.

Philadelphia is a talented squad, led by Andre Iguodala, and Elton Brand. Jrue Holliday is a young point guard from UCLA, who has shown flashes of being a superstar in the making. He will have a tough series with Dwayne Wade on the other side of things.

Miami is the big three, not much else. Boston won series in recent years with a their version of the big three, and Miami will likely win here. Not having much of a bench will not be exposed versus the 76ers, but it will be before the playoffs are over. Lebron James, Chris Bosh, Wade, who will help these guys in the playoffs? Anybody? The Heat wins game one, though the 76ers make it tough.

Atlanta at Orlando: The third game on the docket is the Hawks and Magic. The season series was knotted up at two games apiece. Upon first glance, the Magic appear to have a big advantage in the middle with Dwight Howard. Can the Hawks overcome this deficit?

Howard will run wild on Saturday after missing another game due to being suspended for too many technicals. The Magic are not just Howard, with Jason Richardson, Jameer Nelson, and Brandon Bass. Orlando is a very talented squad, and will pose a difficult task for Chicago next round. Though, I am getting ahead of myself, first they must take care of action here.

Atlanta is a tough team with Al Horford manning the middle. Josh Smith and Joe Johnson need to be in top form for the Hawks to make this a good series. Game one will be a good indication of how the Hawks are going to do for the series. Bringing in Jamal Crawford off the bench is a plus for Atlanta as he can change things up. Looking forward to a great game on Saturday, with the Magic prevailing.

Portland at Dallas: The finale of day one will be the best game of all. Portland is a dangerous sixth seed against the Mavericks. The Blazers match up well with Dallas, adding intrigue to the series. Portland won the final two games with Dallas in the regular season series. Now the new season begins.

Dallas with Dirk Nowitski, Jason Terry, Shawn Marion, and company are a very deep team. Tyson Chandler needs to have a good game for Dallas with Portland's big men getting better together. The shooters also need to shoot and keep shooting as the Blazers tend to let people get going from the three-point line.

The Blazers have improved since Gerald Wallace got put into the starting lineup. Heck, they improved right away after making that trade. LaMarcus Aldridge is a front-runner for most improved player as he averages 21 points and nine boards per game. Andre Miller, and Marcus Camby both capable veterans will keep the team afloat during rough stretches. Bringing Nicolas Batum and Brandon Roy off the bench makes the Blazers a better team. Dallas wins game one riding the emotion of the home-crowd, though the game will go down to the final minutes.

Yeah, the last two games are going to be great ones. I think Portland and the Magic just get by.

The Atlanta/Orlando series should be a good watch. I'd like to see the Sixers take the series to game 6 or 7 and make it a little interesting for the big 2.5.

I like the Mavs to pull out Game One. Look for all Home teams to hold serve.
