Bryant says he will be fine: Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant tore a ligament in his wrist, yet expects to be okay for the season opener versus Chicago. The guard, played in all 82 games last year, with an injury to his knee that he describes as bone on bone. He has been an iron man for most of his 15-year career, don't see something like a wrist injury slowing him down. I would of been more surprised if he didn't play.
Hayes and Kings, new deal: Chuck Hayes, just days after failing a physical and getting released by Sacramento, has agreed to a new deal with the team. The new deal is worth $22.4 million, one more million then the previous deal, and is a four year contract. The physical showed a heart abnormality, though he received clearance from a Cleveland clinic where heart specialists are housed.
Nets center injured: New Jersey center Brook Lopez broke his right foot and will miss an indefinite amount of time. The Nets wasted no time in filling the hole by trading for Mehmet Okur from Utah. New Jersey sent a 2015 second round draft pick to the Jazz in exchange for the big man. Lopez led the Nets in scoring last season, averaging 20 points and six rebounds. He has not missed a game yet in his career. Okur for his career has averaged 14 points and seven rebounds per game.
Stevenson signed with New Jersey: Former Dallas Mavericks shooting guard DeShawn Stevenson signed a deal with New Jersey on Thursday, worth $2.5 million dollars and one season. Stevenson has played for five teams in 12 seasons in the league. He has averaged seven points and two rebounds per game in his career.
