NBA News, 5/2 Tuesdays games
May 2nd 2011 23:32
Sacramento remains the home of the Kings as the NBA will give them one more shot. The team will play in 2011, if there is a next season as a lockout is looming. Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson wanted the team to stay and he got his wish after the Maloof brothers, owners of the Kings, decided to stay in the city for one more year. The move is only temporary, but gives the city of Sacramento a chance to find an arena for the team. So for now no Anaheim Kings, but it could eventually happen.
Boston put up a decent fight in game one for the first half or well the first quarter but this changed soon as the Heat took over. The lack of scoring from anyone other then Ray Allen forced the Celtics to play catch-up. Boston had no answer for Dwayne Wade who went for 38 points. Paul Pierce imploded under the pressure and Boston was left for dead. Tuesday is a new day and a new game for Boston. The Celtics have an advantage with their deep bench. Their big three is older then the Heat's but that shouldn't make a difference as the Celtics have the deeper bench.
Miami controlled the game and tempo throughout. The Heat fought off each time Boston tried to rally, with a run of their own. This Heat team is the one which experts predicted before the season started would win 70 games. Lebron James only scored 22 points, which is good for any normal player but 22 won't do it for him. Chris Bosh a piddly seven points. James Jones came off the bench and scored 25 points, without him Miami would of lost. Jones won't keep this up. Others need to step up. Bosh can't do it as Kevin Garnett gets the best of him. James struggles against Boston. He will have to get over this for the Heat to win more. Boston takes game two.
Memphis controlled game one of their series with Oklahoma City. The Thunder fell behind and their rally was too little, too late as the Grizzlies hung on. Zach Randolph has been on a tear here in the playoffs. Marc Gasol, once again had a great game. Can the Grizzlies keep this intensity up? After winning game one of their previous series with San Antonio, the Grizzlies had issues in game two with scoring. If this happens tomorrow, Oklahoma City with their scorers in Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook will run over them.
Both teams shot the ball very well in game two. This is more of Oklahoma City's style of game then it is Memphis's. Serge Ibaka and Kendrick Perkins need to be more of a force in game two. Ibaka scored a quiet 16 points and had 11 rebounds. Perkins scored just two points and had six rebounds. Time for the big guy who came over in a mid-season trade to step up. The Thunder get back on the winning track with a victory.
