NBA News, 4/4 NBA Declarations

Missouri guys amongst players declaring: Kim English, and Laurence Bowers declared for the NBA draft on Monday. Both guys are former starting Missouri players. Mike Anderson left Missouri for Arkansas, two weeks ago. On Sunday, Missouri hired former Miami coach Frank Haith to take over the head coaching reins. Both players are leaving school, a year early to try the NBA. Bowers averaged 12 points, and seven rebounds last year, while English scored 10 points per game for the 23-11 Missouri Tigers.

76ers, Knicks clinch: Philadelphia and New York clinched playoff spots on Sunday. Both teams have not been in the playoffs for a few years. New York's last visit to the playoffs came in 2004, while Philadelphia made the playoffs in 2007. New York has a record of 38-38, while the 76ers are at 40-37 on the year. Phoenix Suns were eliminated after losing to San Antonio.


Lakers lose: The Los Angeles Lakers lost 95-90 to Denver yesterday, ending a nine-game winning streak. Two big bodies went down in the defeat for the defending champions. Pau Gasol, and Andrew Bynum are expected to have an MRI on Tuesday to access the damage. Gasol after a hard foul experienced swelling to his left knee. Bynum, left the game in the fourth quarter after Lamar Odom fell into his right knee. Both guys missed practice on Monday.

Randolph, Anthony players of the week: Memphis forward Zach Randolph earned player of the week honors after leading the Grizzlies to a 3-0 week. Randolph averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for the Grizzlies. Carmelo Anthony took home the Eastern Conference honors for player of the week as the Knicks went 3-0. Anthony averaged 34 points, eight rebounds, and three assists for the Knicks.

If the Lakers lose one of those guys, the result would be crushing.
