Usually do a round of NBA news on Monday, but decided to go for one today.
Howard suspended: Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard was suspended for Monday's game with Portland per NBA technical foul rules. Howard picked up his 16th technical foul on Friday during the Magic's loss to Chicago. He leads the league in technical fouls. Monday's game is a perfect chance for Portland to get a win on their East Coast trip involving four road games starting with the Magic, then Miami, Charlotte, and Atlanta.
Dampier fined 10,000: Miami Center Erick Dampier was fined $10,000 for a flagrant foul 2 he committed Friday versus San Antonio. Tony Parker was on a breakaway when the center went for a hard foul on the guard, who just returned from a calf injury. San Antonio went onto win the game 125-95.
Boston set to sign Carlos Arroyo: After last weeks signing of Troy Murphy, the Celtics continue to add depth by adding Miami defunct, Carlos Arroyo. The point-guard will backup Rajon Rondo and aide the Celtics who are missing Delonte West with a sprained right ankle. Arroyo averaged six points and two assists per game this year with the Heat, starting 42 games.
Love nears record: Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is nearing Moses Malone's record for double-doubles. Love scored 20 points and had 21 rebounds in Minnesota's 103-96 loss to Washington, Saturday night. This was Love's third straight game of going at least 20 points and 20 rebounds. Love has 50 straight games with double-doubles, and 59 on the season. Malone set the record in 1978-79 when he had 51 straight double-doubles. Minnesota plays Dallas on Monday, when Love will aim to tie Malone. The potential record-breaking game takes place Wednesday when the Timberwolves play Indiana.
