NBA Mock Draft 2011
June 23rd 2011 00:39
Here's my guess at how tomorrow afternoon's 1st round of the NBA Draft will go down.
1. Cleveland: Kyrie Irving. Has unlimited potential as a playmaker.
2. Minnesota: Derrick Williams. Best all-around prospect in the draft, going to team up with Kevin Love. Minnesota could go with a center here, namely Enes Kanter.
3. Utah: Kanter. The Jazz get their big man here.
4. Cleveland: Jonas Valanciunas. If Kanter goes at 3, then the Cavs pick Jonas Valanciunas as their center of the future.
5. Toronto: Brandon Knight. The Raptors need it all and could go with Kawhi Leonard here or draft Knight and have a point guard star in the making.
6. Washington: Jan Vesely. Washington needs big bodies to help up front. Vesely needs to bulk up, but he is 6 ft. 11 in.
7. Sacramento: Kemba Walker. Hard to say what Sacramento will do, they may throw everyone off and pick Jimmer Freddette here or Leonard.
8. Detroit: Marcus Morris. The Pistons are another team who needs help up front, and in the backcourt for that matter. Wouldn't be surprised if they picked Leonard here.
9. Charlotte: Klay Thompson. Michael Jordan heir apparent? Not really, though his father, Mychal played in the NBA. He is moving up the draft boards, and will instantly help the Bobcats.
10. Milwaukee: Leonard. The Bucks need another playmaker other then Brandon Jennings. Leonard is the man here.
11. Golden State: Tristan Thompson. Golden State has questions regarding Monta Ellis for next season. Another big question mark is their frontcourt. Thompson is young but has potential to be something special.
12. Utah: Freddette. The Jazz get what they need, someone who can score. Freddette and Devin Harris will team up in the backcourt.
13. Phoenix: Alec Burks. With questions regarding Steve Nash, the Suns grab another guard. Phoenix may pick Markieef Morris here to bolster a weak front-court.
14. Houston: Chris Singleton. Houston needs a small forward to push Chase Budinger for playing time.
15. Indiana: Marshon Brooks. The Pacers need a guard here, to help Darren Collison in the backcourt. Brooks is the best option of the remaining players.
16. Philadelphia: Donatas Motiejunas. Philadelphia grabs this European player who can fill it up on the offensive side. He is known for thunderous dunks.
17. New York: Bismack Biyombo. Nobody knows what to expect of this blocking phenom. Biyombo can go anywhere from 8 to 25 in this draft. The Knicks don't let him pass them.
18. Washington: Nicola Vucevic. Another big man for the Wizards. If they keep Nick Young, and add Jamal Crawford then big guys are needed up front.
19. Charlotte: Tobias Harris. The Bobcats are another team who needs help up front. After taking Thompson earlier, they add Harris who can play both forward spots. He has the potential to be a special player.
20. Minnesota: Jordan Hamilton. The Timberwolves continue to make good decisions after taking Williams picks Hamilton who score and play defense, something they lacked last year.
21. Portland: Kenneth Faried. Portland wants to move up, and are dangling Andre Miller or Nicolas Batum. Rumors are sprouting up about them being interested in Baron Davis. If they keep the pick, Portland drafts Faried.
22. Denver: Iman Shumpert. Denver can use a center, if Vucevic or Biyombo falls then they will grab him. If not the Nuggets who are shopping Raymond Felton, don't let Shumpert fall past them.
23. Houston: Markieef Morris. The Rockets need center help as well. If they do pick Singleton with the 14th pick look for them to pick Morris who adds size. This halts Morris's fall down the draft board.
24. Oklahoma City: Reggie Jackson. Oklahoma City can use another guard, someone who can not only play defense but score as well. Jackson averaged 18 points per game as a senior at Boston College.
25. Boston: Shelvin Mack. Mack would instantly help out this aging group of players if they pick him.
26. Dallas: Nicola Mirotic. After not trusting Peja Stojackovic in the playoffs, Dallas moves to end this relationship and draft Mirotic here, someone who has great size and can shoot the ball.
27. New Jersey: Justin Smith. A solid backup or starter for the Nets here if they pick Smith. He can push Kris Humphries for playing time up front.
28. Chicago: Davis Bertrans. Another European player. Bertrans is similar to Kyle Korver as a player, will contribute off the bench.
29. San Antonio: Trey Tompkins. Tim Duncan is aging quickly, time for a solid player who can take over the reins if needed. Tompkins fills up the stat sheet.
30. Chicago: Darius Morris. The Bulls may select Kyle Singler or Nolan Smith as well. Morris is more of a natural point guard, and can step in to spell Derrick Rose if needed.
