NBA Dunk Contest Participants
January 5th 2011 23:11
The winner from the last two years, Boston Celtics guard Nate Robinson is noticeably absent, as four newcomers will get their chance to showcase their skills. The contest takes place February 19th as part of the all-star weekend.
Blake Griffin-This rookie forward from Oklahoma was selected last year but due to an injury, missed the whole season. Now he is back with a bang. He is dominanting defenders and putting up huge numbers on a bad Clippers team. Griffin averages 21.7 points and 12.5 boards a game. He is the favorite to win.
Serge Ibaka-This forward/center for Oklahoma City is a second year player. He is the bruiser for the Thunder, and helps to make the team go. Averaging 9.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, Ibaka has started 18 games for the Thunder.
JaVelle McGee- The tallest of all the competitors at seven-foot. Has jumped into the starting lineup for the Washington Wizards this season, his third in the league from Nevada. More minutes have equaled better play for McGee, averaging 9.2 points and 8.3 rebounds.
Brandon Jennings- Shortest of the competitors at 6-1, may be the most dynamic. Second year guy from Oak Hill Academy, took a year in Europe and has started every game since then for Milwaukee. Averages 17.9 points, 5.5 assists and four rebounds a game.
The finals will be a battle between Griffin and Jennings, with the little guy winning again. Jennings keeps the streak going of guards winning the contest.
