NBA Commissioner: Contracting teams is an option
October 22nd 2010 23:39
David Stern, the commissioner of the National Basketball Association (NBA) disclosed on Friday, how the league is willing to eliminate teams. This would be a way to help out the ailing league which is losing money by the millions. The league projects to lose $300 to $350 million this season.
Stern wants to cut players salaries by about $800 million in hopes it could help. The NBA and the NFL both have expiring deals on the table between the owners and players which may entail lockouts in the near future.
The NBA ballooned to 30 teams with the addition of Toronto and Vancouver in 1995, and has since struggled to maintain financially. Here's to hope that the players will take a pay cut and the league improves.
