NBA announces near 5 percent income

The NBA is still in their lockout and no end is in sight. Even with this happening, the league in their annual audit announced a 4.8 increase in income and total-player compensation.
This total increased from last seasons 1 percent and 2 percent from two seasons ago. Basketball related income increased from $3.6 billion in 2009 to $3.8 billion in 2010. Total player compensation went up from $2 billion in 2009 to $2.1 billion in 2010. One issue concerning the lockout is how to deal with this income.
The league projected losses of $300 million from last season, so this income comes as a bit of a shock to the owners. No new talks are scheduled between the two sides, just informal conversation.
