More Details on NBA Deal
November 27th 2011 20:37
After yesterday's announcement of a tentative deal between the owners and players of the NBA, more details are emerging of what they agreed too. Here's a few items.
Free Agency and Training Camps will open on December 9th. Games to start on December 25th.
The players will make at best 51.2% of the revenue. This is down from 57% previously.
The new contract between the two sides will run ten years, though both sides can opt out at six years.
An amnesty clause may be part of the deal though it hasn't been announced yet.
Teams can go four-million over the salary cap, and still have a mid-level exception. They wouldn't be hit by a luxury tax.
Annual salary increases is set at 7.5 percent in Bird deals and 4.5 in non-Bird contracts.
Player union needs to re-certify yet and drop antitrust suit. This is expected to happen soon.
