Miami has Chicago on the ropes in game five of the East Finals

May 25th 2011 22:21
Chicago's Derrick Rose missed a shot which had the potential to change this whole Eastern Conference Finals series. After receiving the pass with eight seconds left on the clock, he worked his way around Lebron James who was guarding. Rose managed to get what looked like a nice shot off, but it failed to even hit the basket, thus we had overtime at 85 points apiece. Miami went onto win the game and now force an elimination game for Chicago here. One good thing the Bulls have going for them is we head back to the Windy City.

Fatigue is beginning to show on Rose who has logged 169 minutes in the four games of the series. Though there was an extended break between game one and two, the last two games have gone with one day off. Rose scored 23 points on 8-27 shooting and committed seven turnovers. He has struggled mightily against Dwayne Wade and the Heat defense. Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer, each had decent games in scoring 20 points apiece but it was too little. Not having the added burst off the bench from Taj Gibson or anyone else on the bench also hurt the Bulls.

Wade had issues on the offensive side, scoring just 14 points. James picked up the pieces by scoring 35 points and Bosh added 22. Miami was behind for most of the game but managed to pull it together in the end while the Bulls struggled to find an offensive source. Mike Miller had a great game for the Heat bench, adding 12 points.

With the home-crowd behind them, I don't think Chicago will lose here. Someone from the bench needs to step up and aide the starters who logged lots of minutes in game four. Miami has a weak bench, but they are liking like the better of the two in this series. If Rose can regain his shooting touch then the Bulls cakewalk to the win. Adding 20 points each from Boozer and Deng again, helps in the win as Chicago fights off elimination for another day.

The Bulls played their starters for over 40 minutes, and Keith Bogans never played in the fourth quarter or overtime. I forgot who took over for him and played those minutes, it was a non-starter. Maybe Ronnie Brewer? Anyway, Kyle Korver only played like 3 minutes in the game. It was weird game management that led to fatigue.
