Miami and Los Angeles Preview
December 24th 2010 23:30
Tomorrow we get a look at what the NBA Finals might be this season. The Los Angeles Lakers host the Miami Heat for their first showdown.
The off-season saw Miami bulk up for the Lakers. Re-signing Dwayne Wade and signing Chris Bosh, and Lebron James brought the Heat to the championship forefront. The Lakers, winners of the previous two NBA titles have what the Heat want. Now we get to see how Miami shapes up versus the NBA's best.
Miami, winners of 12 of 13, are 22-9 on the season. The Lakers are 21-8 thus far. Two people involved in the game, Lakers coach Phil Jackson and Heat forward, James have publicly voiced their displeasure over playing on Christmas. But as long as they are in the NBA, James and Jackson can bet upon getting the Christmas day call-up.
The big three led the Heat into battle. James, Wade and Bosh. Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol key the Lakers attack. Wade could miss the game with a sore ankle, but don't count on it.
James averages 23 points a game, Wade next up with 21. Bosh scores 17 per game and eight rebounds. James and Wade both fill up the scoreboard with assists and rebounds for Miami. A key player for Miami, is point guard Mario Chalmers if Wade doesn't go.
Bryant scores 25 points per game, and he also fills up the stats sheet for the Lakers, not to the extent, James and Bosh do for Miami. Gasol backs up Bryant with an average of 17 points, and nine rebounds. Lamar Odom, the Lakers sixth man, could play a key role for Los Angeles here. He averages 12 points, and 10 rebounds.
Look for a great game from both teams in this showdown. Neither team may want to play Christmas Day, but as the big name teams they are, a game comes. James versus Bryant, just what the NBA wants for Christmas. Bryant will get the better of this first matchup. Los Angeles wins.
