December 24th 2010 22:57
After the Christmas festivities and NFL games are over for the day, well one game will be on, in addition we have the Little Caesar's Bowl. The Florida International Golden Hurricane, after a 6-6 mark this season will face the Toledo Rockets in Detroit.
One NFL game pitting the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles will overshadow this game. Rightfully so as one team, neither team has been to a bowl for five years. Florida International has only had a football program for nine years, six of these in division one. The Golden Panthers have made a steady climb up the division with a record of 9-39, the last four years. Coach Mario Cristobal has gotten the Golden Panthers playing good.
Florida International is led by two running backs, Darriet Perry and Darrian Mallory. Perry has 707 yards and 14 touchdowns on the season. Mallory is right behind with 669 yards rushing. Quarterback Wesley Carroll on the season has 15 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
Toledo counters with Terrance Owens, an freshman quarterback who took over for the starter Austin Dantin this season. Owens has 12 touchdowns and two picks this year. Toledo is 8-4 on the season, and went 7-1 in Mid-American conference play. The Rockets love to feast on turnovers, tied with Hawaii for the nation lead with 33.
So if you choose to watch this game, expect a good game. Toledo if they can keep from commiting the turnovers will win. The Golden Panthers running backs will fight to keep the score close. Toledo wins still.
