Lakers outlast Suns in 3 ot's

Los Angeles defeated Phoenix, 139-137 in three overtimes on Tuesday night. Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 42 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. Bryant played 48 minutes of the marathon game. Steve Nash, not to be outdone scored 19 points, and dished out 20 assists. Channing Frye and Lamar Odom, both played nearly the whole game. Frye was on the court for 57 minutes, while Odom went 55 minutes. Frye scored 32 points, and had 11 boards, while Odom went for 29 points and 16 rebounds.
Phoenix jumped out to the lead after the first quarter, ahead 31-27. Phoenix was in charge for most of the second quarter before Los Angeles went on a 21-10 run, to grab a six-point lead at halftime. After a Bryant three-pointer put the Lakers up by 21 at 89-68 at the 4:39 mark of the third quarter, things began to change. Nash and Frye caught fire, each connecting on three-pointers, en route to cut the lead to nine going into the fourth. Then at the 9:17 mark of the fourth quarter, the lead was down to one point after an Aaron Brooks three-pointer.
The Lakers fought off the run and continued to lead with the score at 110-101. Only 1:16 was on the clock as the Lakers continued to lead by six. Though with the sharpshooters Phoenix has anything can happen. Frye and Grant hill both drained three's to tie the game at 112. Phoenix had chances to win in regulation, but were unable to do so. Frye got fouled on a three-point attempt in the final minute of the overtime. The center connected on a three attempts, tying the game up again at 121. Five more minutes were needed.
Phoenix was in charge for the second extra period, having the lead at 130-128, Pau Gasol drew a foul as only two seconds remained. Gasol made both, sending five more minutes onto the game clock. The Lakers jumped out to the lead at 137-132, then Frye once again cut the lead in half with a three-pointer. The Suns couldn't get any closer after this. Phoenix fell to 35-34, while the Lakers moved up to 51-20. The Suns return to action today versus Toronto in a home game, while the Lakers host the Clippers on Friday.
