Lakers lose third straight game...to cavs
February 17th 2011 04:13
Wednesday night was the rematch of a lopsided game which took place last month. Los Angeles Lakers won that game, 112-57 over Cleveland. The Cavs got their revenge, defeating the Lakers 104-99.
Cleveland got 32 points from guard Ramon Sessions who outplayed a noticeably struggling Kobe Bryant. The guard for the Lakers had been held out of practices this week with chills and the flu. Bryant scored only 17 points on 8-25 shooting. Pau Gasol lead the Lakers with 30 points and 20 rebounds. The Lakers lost for third straight game, while Cleveland has won two out of three.
Cleveland shot 47% for the game, and the visiting Lakers made 42% of their field goals. What really hurt the Lakers was a lack of interest. They seemed un-interested with the Cavs. 19 turnovers drove head coach Phil Jackson up the wall, as he was seen yelling at his players.
The Cavs broke the game open in the early going with a 11-0 spurt that began while Bryant was sitting down. Cleveland turned a 15-14 defecit to a 25-15 lead before Gasol knocked down two free throws. The Lakers fought back and took the lead back midway through the second quarter, 38-36. Cleveland quickly regained the advantage by halftime with the lead at 51-46.
After a rollercoaster third and early fourth quarters, Cleveland suddenly found themselves ahead by 12, 96-84 at the 2:30 mark. It only took the Lakers two minutes to cut the margin down to two points at 99-97. Behind Anthony Parker and Sessions free throws, the Cavs pushed the lead back and ultimately won. The Lakers fell to 38-19 on the year, while Cleveland improved to 10-46.
