Knicks continue slide with Sunday's loss

New York is 7-8 since making the trade for Carmelo Anthony. The player they coveted finally was handed to them, and now New York can't win. Milwaukee added to New York's woes with a 100-95 win today. The Bucks are tied with Charlotte for ninth in the Eastern Conference, while New York is now 35-34 on the year.
Milwaukee jumped out to a 32-9 lead after the first quarter. New York missed 11 out of their first 12 shots. For the game, New York shot 38%, missing 54 shots. 54 shots missed! Anthony was coming off a 2-12 effort on Friday night, he didn't do too much better today, shooting 7-14. Anthony scored 23 points, thanks to seven free throws. Amare Stoudemire scored 25 points on 11-28 shooting. A terrible shooting day for Amare. As a big guy, shooting that bad is even worse then if you were a guard. Reserve Toney Douglas connected on three of 13 shots. The lone bright spot if there was one is Chauncey Billups who scored 21 points, connecting on 6-13 shooting, and having four assists.
The Bucks played inspired basketball from the start. Or was it New York playing so bad? Probably a little bit of both. Carlos Delfino filled the stat sheet with 30 points, 11 rebounds and two assists. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute made all 13 of his free throw attempts. His UCLA Bruins lost yesterday in a great battle with Final four favorite Florida yesterday. The forward finished with 19 points in the win.
New York has some work to do. They have fallen into the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference, five and a half games ahead of eighth place Indiana. The Knicks play tomorrow night against Boston who is tied for first still with Chicago. The only good news for Carmelo and co. is that Boston hasn't been playing as well lately either. Boston has lost four out of their last seven games, losses to New Jersey on the road and the LA Clippers at home are included. New York is destined for a first round exit this year, maybe next season things will be different.
