Two NBA coaches in a war of words is nothing new as evidenced by past years. The latest battle is between Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy and Los Angeles coach Phil Jackson.
Two days ago Jackson was a guest on the Waddle and Silvy show, an ESPN Chicago radio broadcast. When asked about the current Miami Heat outlook, the fireworks began.
Jackson stated how the three stars, Chris Bosh, Lebron James, and Dwayne Wade will go into team President Pat Riley's office and coerce him into coaching the team. By doing so, the current coach Erik Spoelstra will lose his position. Jackson claims the coaching change will be like in 2005 when Miami and Van Gundys coaching position ended abruptly. It was widely speculated that Riley forced Van Gundy out.
Now as the Magic coach Van Gundy has found success once again. Today, he called Jackson's remarks "ignorant" and blasted the Lakers coach.
Jackson was amused by the reaction from Van Gundy. The two teams will have to wait until February 13th to settle the dispute on the court when the Magic host the Lakers..
